Disclaimer: I have made this blog for the intent to show loved ones what we've been up to lately. I also want to one day print it out and have it as a journal for the kids. I am not doing this to brag at all. I just thought this is a great way for you all to see what life's been like for us and what we've been doing. I love to see other people's blogs and see their pictures and see what they've been up to. That's all I'm doing here. Thank you!

Matthews Reunion July 17-19 2010

It was our turn this year to put together the Matthews reunion. We had to plan all the games, meal assignments, and all the other fun stuff that goes along with putting together a reunion. We had a great time. Lincoln had a great time also. He kept going over to this beam hugging and kissing it. It was his way of saving the rainforest, I guess. It was so wierd and funny at the same time.
This is when he got caught.
He stayed there forever hugging and kissing that beam.
Lincoln in Grandpa Matthews chair. We sure do miss him. It's just not the same without Grandpa, but it is so great that we keep this tradition alive, it was his and Grandma's biggest request for after they pass on.
Me and my two boys. Jason had to work and go to school so we missed him a lot. It's hard work without him, but I did have some GREAT help. All my sisters jumped in to help whenever needed and my mom was also a huge help. Thanks fam, I love you all so much.
We have been holding the reunions at my Uncle Tom's amazing cabin, they build and add more things to it when they have the money for it. So smart. So this year they added the cabinetry and some framework around the doors. It looks so good.
Lincoln liked eating the olives mom was putting in her salad. He was helping me, one less olive I didn't have to slice.
He liked the idea of putting it on his finger first.
Alisa was all of the parents savior when she entertained all of the younger kids with her computer game. They were all enthralled. It was such a lifesaver. Thanks Alisa, you're the best!!!
This is when I finally got all their attentions so I can get this picture. It was so quiet in the cabin when this was going on. All the parents were amazed.
We had an activity on the first night, Speed Gaming, where we had 6 games going with 4 people to a game and everyone played for 8 minutes and when the timer went off it was time to switch games. You had to pick up where the last player left off. it went over so well. Good thinking, Alisa.
Some played harder than others. Here was a team of Joni, Amanda, Aunt Carolyn, and Aunt Susan. They are playing Candy Land, and apparently it was a FUN game. They laughed and laughed the whole time they were on this game.
Micah got her fingernails painted by her Aunt Joni. She was showing them off to me.

Spencer with one of his bestest cousins, Micah.
Aunt Jonsie showing Lincoln how to go "up up up".
Spencer just enjoying the outdoors.
Micah's turn on the 4-wheeler with Aunt Tena
Close up!!!! Isn't she so cute!!
Becky, Brett and Lincoln watching all the action together.
Spencer and Micah taking a stroll hand in hand through the woods. Later on down the road I need to remind him that they are cousins still. No kissing cousins allowed.
The whole gang, we had a pretty good turnout.
Another picture of the whole Matthews family. Pretty good looking group, I have to say.
The King Family
The Hale family (minus Jason, Kevin, and Tenille), you were missed, by the way.
The Matthews family
The Bowler family (minus Jason:()

The Brian clan (plus Becky)
Now the Brian clan
Brett's fam, making faces at the camera.

Spirit Fingers
This was a game Joni came up with. It was so fun. It was a "lefty, righty" game. She wrapped a whole bunch of little prizes with candy inside tissue paper and then read a story that had the words "lefty, righty and center" in it. Whenever one of those words came up, you had to pass your present that way. It was really a fun game. Good job, Jonsie, it turned out great.
Becky was being so funny. Alisa had no idea. That's the best part of it.
Joni reading the story.
Becky showing me her prize at the end of the game. She was also showing me a whole bunch more than thatm but we'll leave it at that.
Aunt Alisa with her minions. Can you see Brett's contribution to this picture? Leave it to him. It still turned out cute though.
Lincoln looking up to his big bro. OhHhhhh!!
Micah showing off her bunny ears
I can't believe how big ahe is getting. It astounds me. She is growing up to be a little lady. A very pretty one too.
This was the family feud game. It was Aunt Carolyn and Aunt Susan's turn at the buzzer. Alisa did a fabulous job at putting this game together. She did all the boards amazingly and it turned out so awesome. I think everyone enjoyed this reunion. I know I did.
The group figuring out the answers to Family Feud.
These were the game boards. Alisa outdid herself. They were great!!
I don't think Spencer enjoyed any of his homemade ice cream, what do you think?
Lincoln trying on Aunt Alisa's BYU hat.

Spencer loves caterpillers. Any kind of creepy crawly thing, actually, it's not my thing. He has no fear, which is really scary.

Another time Lincoln was lovin' on the beam. Wierdo!!!
See, he's so lovey, it's just sad he does it to beams and not moms.
This is how Linc stands most of the time. With his hands behind his back. It's actually really strange, I don't know of many kids who stand like this.
Lincoln found some pink undies and was very interested. The owner of the undies weren't very happy though. It really made the little girl very embarrassed. She was getting ready to take a bath. Not knowing her undies were being shown to everyone.

This cabin is quite a sight to see. They have done an amazing job building it.
This is out the front, it is so awesome to look out and see the outdoors.
"Cheese, mom can you now come get me out, I'm stuck"
This is another picture of the kitchen. It sure doesn't look like a cabin now. It's so incredible.

The path to go to the cabin

The guys just picked up these rocks and put in these stairs while we were there. It makes a huge difference.
The drive home. :( We had a great time and can't wait for next year.
